This past weekend, the 21st Numerical Towing Tank Symposium (NuTTS’18) took place in Cortona, Italy. Participants and PhD researchers from several different institutions came to share their results and ongoing research in and around the maritime industry.
This year, the Symposium attracted 36 publications, 8 of which have featured ReFRESCO, in partnership with MARIN. Collaborations between MARIN and partner universities included IST Técnico Lisbon, University of New Brunswick, University of Southampton, and TU Delft.
The featured topics in the presentations and papers ranged from Verification and Validation of CFD results, propeller design, flows around ships and offshore structures, and more specialized topics such as free surface modeling, cavitation, and overset mesh.
NuTTS is a yearly forum for informal discussions among experts in the field and to disseminate latest results. Younger workers and PhD students are especially encouraged to participate.
